This sums up my first few days of “Training not maintaining.” I went out for a walk of my route in order to see what the side walks had to offer, it’s clear with only minor imperfections. I was shocked & very pleased that I got some running in. It felt good after 6 weeks not running at all, only walking. I believe that my walking helped maintain my legs, I was impressed. I feel good going into my spring race(s), my 5/10k at Bluenose (Halifax, Nova Scotia) in May.
It’s valentines & some of my fellow runners were asked why do runners love each other & I summed it up into this: Runners love each other because the shared experiences bring out the best in everyone. Shared experiences are just that shared. The memories last forever & that’s how actual friendships start one shared experience at a time!
If you can find even one nugget of wisdom in a running conversation it’s an amazing feeling.
